FC Nantes have officially announced the contract extension of Cameroon international striker Ignatius Ganago (24). The former OGC Nice youth product has signed a one-year extension, tying him to the Loire-Atlantique side until 2027.
Ganago signed for Nantes from Lens in a €4m deal one year ago. He registered six goals and five assists for his first season with Les Canaris, which was scarred by the tragic passing of his daughter. The 24-year-old notably scored Nantes’ final and most crucial goal of last season in Les Canaris, ensuring they kept their Ligue 1 status against Angers.

L’Equipe understands that Ganago declined a proposal of a loan with option to buy from Turkish Süper Lig outfit Trabzonspor in the final days of the transfer window. Ganago missed the first two Nantes games of the current season through injury. He came off the bench in the home draws against Monaco (3-3) and Marseille (1-1). Ganago, like prolific Egyptian forward Mostafa Mohamed, may miss a handful of games with Les Canaris should he take part in the AFCON in January.
Pierre Aristouy’s side play Clermont away on Sunday afternoon for Ligue 1’s fifth gameweek.
