Hoffenheim have today confirmed the signing of Ozan Kabak from newly-promoted Bundesliga side Schalke for a reported fee between €5m and €7m, the 22-year-old has signed a four-year deal until 2026.
“Ozan is a powerful defender who makes a strong impression with his tough and energetic tackling. In addition, he is quick and is excellent in the air, which means he also poses a real threat from set-pieces. Despite his young age, Ozan has already experienced some ups and downs that have made him grow into a mature personality,” TSG sporting director Alexander Rosen told the club’s website.
“I already said at the end of last season that we wanted to bring in some more quality for our defence. I am convinced that in Ozan we have found a player who will do us real good, both in terms of football and character.”
Kabak completed the medical check on Friday before signing his contract. “I am very happy about my move to TSG. Hoffenheim are one of the most exciting clubs in Germany and have an excellent reputation, especially when it comes to successfully developing young players,” added the Turkey international.
“I’m excited about the squad and the chance to work with the new coaching team. I’m delighted to be able to get down to work right away.”
Kabak spent last season on loan at Norwich City but played just 12 games in all competitions and was unable to prevent them from being relegated. S04 then had the intention of selling the central-defender this summer due to his €3.5m salary.
