Espanyol have signed full-back Brian Oliván from Mallorca. The 28-year-old has joined the Catalan club on a free transfer after finishing his contract with Mallorca.
It was with Mallorca that Oliván made his First Division debut. He was instrumental in Mallorca’s fight for survival last season. The Spaniard started in 24 of the 28 games he played under Luis García Plaza and Javier Aguirre.
Oliván has signed with Espanyol until 2025. A versatile defender who can play as a centre-back though his natural position is left-back, he will be a valuable addition to the Barcelona-based club.
Dídac Vilà has left Espanyol after 16 seasons. Oliván will help fill the void left by the veteran and also, at the same time, compete with Adrià Pedrosa for a spot in the starting eleven.
“I want to thank all those who bet on me. I come here with a lot of ambition and desire to face this new challenge in my sporting career and I hope it will be a very exciting time. I come with the desire and intention to have the best season possible,” Oliván said in quotes reported by Marca.
