Djaoui Cissé (21) has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Stade Rennais and he has now been rewarded with a new contract at the club.
It has been a season to forget for Rennes who have burned through three managers. Julien Stéphan began the season but lost his job in the opening weeks of the campaign and was replaced by Jorge Sampaoli. However, the Argentine didn’t last long either and was replaced by former Red Star manager Habib Beye early in 2025.
Out of contention for the fight for the European objectives, the Breton club have fallen short of their objectives. Safety in Ligue 1 has, at least, been secured. However, one of the rare bright sparks in the season has been Cissé, who has broken through since Beye’s appointment as manager.
The midfielder has started the last seven games in Ligue 1 and he has now been rewarded with a new deal. His old contract had been set to expire in 2027. His new deal runs until 2029.
