2. Bundesliga side St. Pauli have today announced the signing of 21-year-old central-defender David Nemeth from Mainz.
“I had a good feeling from the word go in the talks with club officials,” said Nemeth. “I was persuaded by the fact that the club puts its faith in young players and their development and gives them the necessary trust, so it was soon clear that I wanted to join St. Pauli. I’m looking forward to getting started soon and meeting my new teammates.”
Head coach Timo Schulz added: “David is still young but gained regular match practice at a high level and did very well during his spell at Sturm Graz, so we’re confident he can play a key role for us straightaway. His two-footedness is another plus point, as he offers flexibility in central defence and also copes well with different systems.”
Nemeth played 308 minutes of Bundesliga football last season after making his Bundesliga debut in October 2021.
