Steffen Baumgart has signed a new contract as FC Köln coach, committing himself to the Bundesliga club until 2024.
“We were in agreement relatively quickly, that we wanted to continue working together,” stated Baumgart, whose former deal was due to expire in 2023.
“I enjoy being here at FC. I’ve always said that. It’s great fun and that’s the most important thing for me,” he added.
FC Köln managing director for sport Christian Keller commented:
“It’s great news to start back into training. Steffen has extended his contract until summer 2024. We have knowingly extended for a year because we have decided to go down that path in the future, going on a year-for-year basis.”
Baumgart joined Köln from Paderborn last summer and led the club to a seventh place finish in the Bundesliga in his first season in charge.
