Augsburg have announced the signing of German midfielder Arne Maier from Hertha Berlin on a permanent basis after exercising their option to buy.
Maier spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Augsburg, who have paid a fee of around €5m to sign the former captain of the Germany U21 team.
The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract until 2025 with the Bundesliga club with an option to extend by a further year.
“I have a lot of trust here at Augsburg,” said Maier. “I felt comfortable right from the start. I’m looking forward to the new season and I want to take on even more responsibility.”
