Union Berlin striker Marin Ljubicic’s reported on loan out to Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2. Bundesliga has been officially confirmed. As reported earlier, the loan deal does not include a purchase option. The Bundesliga hopes to welcome the 23-year-old back after the current season concludes.
Ljubicic – who has scored two goals in only 20 minutes of action for Union this season – will ideally help Düsseldorf shore up the worst attack in the German second division. The relegation-threatened Flingeraner have scored only 17 goals through 19 rounds of 2. Bundesliga football.
Statements on Ljubicic’s loan
“With Marin, we are gaining a versatile offensive player who is both dangerous in front of goal and creates chances for others,” F95 sporting director Sven Mislintat noted in a club statement.
“I’m looking forward to my time here in Düsseldorf, getting involved quickly, and helping the team with my qualities,” Ljubicic himself added.
