RB Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell has commented on reports linking Chelsea and Germany forward Timo Werner with a move back to Red Bull Arena.

“Of course we find him exciting, he’s incredibly fast and a German international,” Vivell told Sky Germany.

“We have been in exchange with him since his transfer. But we are not close to a deal and will only announce something when it makes sense.”

According to Bild, Chelsea are demanding €33 million to let Werner go. However, having just spent €26 million to sign David Raum from Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig would prefer a loan with a purchase obligation, per the report.

Werner scored 93 goals in 158 appearances before completing a €53 million move to Chelsea in 2020.
