Bild reports that the future of Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Şahin is not under threat despite their inconsistent start to the season.
Şahin has a guarantee for his job even if Dortmund lose their games against Augsburg and Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal in midweek. The former midfielder is seen as a long-term project at the club and things are unlikely to get hairy for Şahin even if things get worse for die Schwarzgelben.
Dortmund view Jürgen Klopp as the role model for the situation. When he joined the club in 2008, Klopp was given time to develop the team before winning the Bundesliga three years later. Since Klopp, no coach at Dortmund has been at the helm for more than two seasons. However, unlike the legendary Liverpool and Dortmund manager, Şahin has spent €80m on new players in his first season at the club, compared to Klopp who had €13m.
What is clear is that Şahin cannot make mistakes like he did against Real Madrid on Tuesday night whether that be poor substitutions or a formation change that heavily backfired.
