Bayern Munich has announced that Noussair Mazraoui returned to training with a football at his feet this Thursday.
The defender has been out of action since contracting covid 19 during the World Cup and later was diagnosed with an inflammation of the pericardium. The 25-year-old has not been able to train since then as doctors monitored his heart.
The Moroccan international joined Bayern last summer on a free transfer from Ajax Amsterdam. Before his diagnosis, Mazraoui had made 18 appearances for Bayern and set up three goals.
It’s still not sure when Mazraoui will finally be able to play competitively again but this is certainly a step in the right direction.
Following a Champions League win against PSG in Paris on Tuesday evening, Bayern Munich travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach on the weekend. Gladbach have been a bit of a bogey team for the Bavarians in recent years. However, this time they have former Gladbach number one and club captain Yann Sommer in their ranks.
