An insight into just how highly thought of an oft-criticised member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is behind the scenes at the club has this week been provided.
The player in question? Ronald Araújo.
Stopper Araújo is for his part of course fresh off an altogether challenging season in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25.
After spending the first half of the term sidelined through injury, the Uruguayan saw his performances repeatedly called into question upon his return to fitness.
This came amid concerns over Araújo’s ability to adapt to the high defensive line made use of by new boss Hansi Flick.
Safe to say, however, that such worries are not at all shared by either the coaching staff, or those in a position of power at the Camp Nou.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have already completely ruled out a potential departure for Araújo this summer.
This comes amid the collective belief that:
‘Defensively, Araújo is the best center back in the squad.’
