Arminia Bielefeld are through to the DFB-Pokal final for the first time in their history after a sensational 2-1 win over holders Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
Speaking after the win, Arminia Bielefeld coach Michel Kniat was understandably bursting with pride.
“I’m so proud of the team,” Kniat said, according to Reuters.
“The whole region is feeling this. No one will be sleeping tonight.”
In his opinion, the victory was fully deserved.
“We defended with a lot of passion and that was the key. We worked extremely hard,” said Kniat.
“It was great to go into the break with the lead and in the second half we kept up the pressure for what was a deserved win.”
The 3. Liga outfit will face the winner of Wednesday’s clash between RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart in the final.
