FC Köln are not planning on selling or making any more purchases in the January transfer window, according to Bild.
Köln announced the signing of striker Davie Selke from Hertha Berlin this week. Having only scored 21 goals so far this season, it’s welcome news for all fans of the billygoats.
In truth, Köln have struggled in attack following the departure of Anthony Modeste to Borussia Dortmund. Attacking midfielder Florian Kainz is the club’s top scorer in the Bundesliga this season followed by Dejan Ljubicic and Steffen Tigges, both on three league goals.
Now Köln have a new forward, they are no longer expected to be active in the window. Head coach Steffen Baumgart recently left the option for more incomings pen. However, sports director Christian Keller was more specific.
The 44-year-old said: “We wanted to get a nine – we’ve done that now. I would never say ‘never’. Maybe someone else gets hurt. But there are no plans to do anything else.”
It’s only early in January but it appears Köln are happy with what they’ve got. The club’s first game back is against Werder Bremen on January 21st.
