Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Süle is a doubt for their game against Augsburg at the weekend with an ankle injury.
Süle is said to have left Dortmund’s 5-2 loss to Real Madrid with ankle problems after playing the whole game. The 29-year-old had missed Dortmund’s previous game a 2-1 win against St Pauli with stomach problems, which also meant that he had hardly trained in the build-up to the game in Spain, a two-day turnaround.
On Saturday, Dortmund travel to Augsburg and will look to bounce back after their loss in Madrid where they had a 2-0 lead heading into half-time only to through it away in the second half. After the Augsburg game, Dortmund face Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal.
The clear replacement for Süle will be Waldemar Anton. The summer arrival also came on in the Bernabeu on Tuesday for Jamie Gittens just before Madrid began their comeback.
