Nicolas Pépé to return to Arsenal following Nice loan

Nice-Matin are reporting that Nicolas Pépé (28) will return to parent club Arsenal following a largely unsuccessful loan spell at OGC Nice.

Pépé has struggled for form and fitness during his time with Les Aiglons. The Ivory Coast international was open to the idea of remaining with Nice beyond his one-year loan spell with the club, as reported by L’Équipe, but a permanent move is now extremely unlikely to come to fruition, having scored just eight goals and registering one assist in 28 games in all competitions. The player has been out with injury since early April, after having been rushed back from a tendinitis issue in his knee that had ruled him out since the end of January.

Whilst Pépé’s future seemingly doesn’t lie at the Allianz Riviera, it seemingly doesn’t lie at the Emirates Stadium either. As reported by L’Équipe in April, there is little chance that the former Lille OSC winger will play for Arsenal again. Pépé has just one-year remaining on his contract with the Premier League side.
