After Borussia Dortmund made up ground against Bayern Munich for the second consecutive week, BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck was pleased to declare the Bundesliga title race back on. Dortmund’s latest league victory over Heidenheim remained rife with problems, but the fact also remains that Dortmund are only six points below Bayern in the Bundesliga table.
Bayern’s latest slip up left BVB centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck in a much different mood than he was last week. The German national team defender effectively conceded the title race after Dortmund’s win last Saturday. Now, the 26-year-old is signing a different tune.
Schlotterbeck ready to chase the Meisterschale
“I once heard that if you poke Bayern, they’ll wobble,” Schlotterbeck told DAZN. “They’re headed our way [Bayern are due at Signal Iduna Park at the end of the month]. I think, as BVB we need to start saying ‘We want to be champions!’. We were a bit lucky to win today, but I don’t give a damn. We won!“
