Nice manager Francesco Farioli on Jean-Clair Todibo’s future: “I hope the rumours stay rumours.”

Speaking ahead of OGC Nice’s match against Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday, Francesco Farioli addressed the future of Jean-Clair Todibo (23), who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

Todibo has been linked with a departure all summer, and alongside Khéphren Thuram, he is a player that Nice would be willing to sell for between €40-50m. Manchester United were recently at the Allianz Riviera to scout Todibo and Thuram, as reported exclusively by Get French Football News.

However, it has been reported that Todibo’s arrival at Manchester United would be dependent on Harry Maguire’s departure. The England international had looked close to joining West Ham United, but that deal fell through. Regardless, Todibo continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, and L’Équipe reported earlier this week that the Frenchman centre-back was nearing a move to the Premier League side.

In a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Farioli has now addressed the reports. “These rumours have existed since the start, so we’ve developed antibodies against them – be it the team or myself. There are a few days left – we’ll see. There is a chance that he stays, and I would be happy because he’s a quality player and he would be very hard to replace. I hope the rumours stay rumours,” he said.
