N’Golo Kante preparing to leave Chelsea this summer

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has accepted that the club does not want to extend his contract, which expires in June, and he is already looking for a new club, according to Foot Mercato.

By June 2023, Kante will have spent seven successful years at the London club, but he is beginning to accept that he has to leave.

Kante has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League, UEFA Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup during his time with Chelsea.

However, over the past few seasons, he has struggled with injuries. They have prevented him from being as influential as he can for the Blues.

The injuries have prevented him from playing many games over the past two seasons. Kante has been out with a hamstring injury since mid-August.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel complained about Kante’s fitness issues (via Daily Mail), “He is our key, key player, but key, key players have to be on the pitch, and he only plays 40% of games. Kante is our Mo Salah, (Virgil) van Dijk. He is our Kylian Mbappe.

“This is huge for us to solve it. It is a fact we miss him a lot, and he brings something unique in world football. He can lift everybody and make the difference.”

The fragility of Kante is preventing the new Chelsea bosses from offering the 31-year-old a new deal.

While the club offered fellow 31-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly a four-year contract, they are unwilling to extend that gesture to the France international due to his physical decline.

Kante is now expecting to leave the club this summer. However, he wants to stay in London. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are the only valid options at the moment.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have their eyes on the player. They are interested in signing him on a free transfer, but Kante is not interested.

A few days ago, Kante returned to training following his spell on the sidelines. He could make his third appearance of the season this weekend as Chelsea face Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kante has from now till June to show Chelsea that he can still contribute to the team’s success or they will let him walk away for free.
