Newcastle United are set to reignite their pursuit of Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale as the Englishman struggles for game time in London with David Raya ahead of him in the pecking order, according to the Daily Mail.
Ramsdale was Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper for most of last season but made costly errors during the Premier League title run-in. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta decided to pursue a new keeper.
Arsenal loaned Raya from Brentford, and he has usurped Ramsdale’s place, leaving the former Sheffield United star on the bench.
The 25-year-old England international wants game time and is open to a move away from the Emirates Stadium. He could find that game time in Tyneside with Newcastle.
The Toons currently have Nick Pope (32) and Martin Dubravka (35) between the sticks and are looking for younger options. They have the Arsenal man on their radar.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe knows him from their time together at AFC Bournemouth and would love to work with him again.
The England international could make the move to the North, where he could become first-choice again. The Gunners are already preparing for his departure.
Arsenal are currently eyeing a move for Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte, although they face competition from Manchester United for his signature.

Apart from the goalkeeping area, Newcastle desperately need to refresh their squad to mount a top four challenge like they did last season.
They have been handicapped by Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which has prevented the Public Investment Fund (PIF) from filling the coffers with funds.
Newcastle must navigate the market delicately to avoid being sanctioned with point deductions. They may need to sell stars like Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak to be able to fund moves to plug gaping holes in the squad.
Newcastle need new wingers, a younger keeper, a holding midfielder, and a left-back, but it remains to be seen how they will generate the funds.
