Newcastle United are ‘ready to fast track’ their plans to lure Everton star Anthony Gordon to St James’ Park, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.
The Magpies are currently in the Premier League’s top four, meaning they are on course to qualify for the Champions League, but head coach Eddie Howe could bolster his squad ahead of the January window slamming shut.

Newcastle transfer news – Anthony Gordon
According to MailOnline, Newcastle are considering a fresh approach for Gordon after reviving their interest.
The report suggests the £10,000-per-week winger’s price tag has previously been prohibitive, but the Magpies sense there may be a deal to be done as Everton are desperate to raise cash in order to bring in reinforcements of their own.
Respected journalist Jones recently told GiveMeSport that Newcastle have a ‘good level of interest’ in Gordon and an offer could be lodged ahead of the deadline.
Everton are considering approaches for the 21-year-old, while Leicester City, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are among his suitors.
Chelsea were prepared to pay £60million for Gordon during last summer’s transfer window, but they failed to reach an agreement.
What has Dean Jones said about Gordon?
Jones understands that Newcastle are ready to ramp up their interest in Gordon ahead of the winter window’s fast-approaching deadline.
The transfer insider believes the Tyneside giants are mulling over whether to test Everton’s resolve due to their financial situation.
Jones told GiveMeSport: “Newcastle are ready to fast track their move for Anthony Gordon this month.
“They don’t know that Everton will sell now but they do know that the club aren’t in a good state financially, so feel it might be worth a try. It will be really intriguing to see if they can pull it off.”

Would Gordon be a good signing for Newcastle?
Gordon has scored seven goals and registered a further eight assists during the early stages of his senior club career, according to Transfermarkt.
Considering the England under-21 international’s huge valuation – and the fact Newcastle had a bid rejected last summer – his suitors would have been hoping for a better return in the final third of the pitch.
In fact, Gordon has picked up seven yellow cards this season, which is more than the amount of times he has found the back of the net, and that is a worrying statistic Howe will need to take into account.
Also, he has not been named in a struggling Everton side’s starting line-up since the turn of the year.
Sofascore data shows Gordon has got his name on the scoresheet every 365 minutes in the Premier League this term, so he clearly has a bright future, but Newcastle should look elsewhere if Everton are still seeking up to £60million.
