Newcastle are reportedly in advanced talks with Southampton to sign Tino Livramento this summer.
The Saints suffered relegation to the Championship after finishing at the bottom of the Premier League table last season.
They are now expected to lose several players including Kyle Walker-Peters, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Romeo Lavia.
Livramento remained on the sidelines for almost the whole 2022-23 campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, making only three appearances in all competitions.
But he has only turned 20 and looks to have a huge potential.
According to The Telegraph, Southampton want a £30 million fee to allow the England under-21 international to leave.
But Newcastle are hoping to get a deal over the line for around half of that amount.
The Magpies have already submitted a proposal including cash plus Ryan Fraser, but it remains to be seen whether the Championship outfit are ready to accept that offer.
Livramento started his youth career at Chelsea but moved to the Saints after failing to earn his competitive debut in London.
The 20-year-old made an impressive start to life at St Mary’s Stadium, racking up 32 senior appearances in the 2021-22 season.
But his progress was hampered after he picked up a serious ACL injury last year.
A move to St James’ Park would be a big step up for the talented right-back.
The Tyneside club will now be playing in the Champions League after they finished fourth in the league table.
The English footballer is only 20 and he can hope to greatly improve his game under a top manager like Eddie Howe.
