Liverpool Have 3 Future £100m Stars Iraola Must Build Around

Liverpool have spent significant sums of money over the last few years in order to try to improve their senior squad, but they might not have to spend £100m+ again in certain positions.

Spending over £100m on a player has become pretty normal in the Premier League, and Liverpool are one of the main culprits. Bradley Barcola, Alexander Isak, and Florian Wirtz have all arrived for over that figure in recent years, and it will be interesting to see how long it is until the Reds do so again.

Despite the new additions coming through the door at Anfield, Liverpool are struggling to hit the heights expected of them this season.

With big price tags often comes a lot of pressure and responsibility, and the new signings, particularly Wirtz, haven’t lived up to the price tag just yet.

Liverpool could save themselves an awful lot of money in the future by fully utilising some of the young players they currently have at their disposal.

First up is Jeremy Jacquet. The young defender joined the club from Rennes, and has already become an established member of the Liverpool senior squad.

Jacquet was brought in as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate and is arguably an upgrade on the French centre-back, but he could also be the long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool have secured themselves a bargain in Jacquet, and there’s no doubt his value has already drastically increased since he made the move to Anfield.

Jeremy Jacquet Stats

It will be a huge shock if Jacquet isn’t a £100m player eventually, although it’s hard to see Liverpool even considering a sale in the near future.

The next one is Rio Ngumoha. The young winger undoubtedly has the potential to reach that level, but Liverpool might need to start giving him more opportunities to impress.

The Reds have spent significantly to improve their winger options in recent years, but they could save themselves millions in the future by giving Ngumoha more opportunities.

For now, it’s all about how Liverpool can continue to aid his development, but that might be difficult with the wide options they currently have.

Trey Nyoni the wildcard

Trey Nyoni is perhaps the one who is furthest away from reaching a £100m price tag.

The academy product is yet to establish himself as a regular starter for the senior side, but with Liverpool struggling, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him given more opportunities in the near future.

The likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister haven’t hit the heights expected of them this season, so more minutes for Nyoni could be on the cards.

There has been a lot of talk about Liverpool investing in a new central midfielder, but Nyoni could be the answer to save them a lot of money.

Iraola needs to build around these three for the future, if Liverpool want long-term success again.
