Neil El Aynaoui’s transfer to Monaco collapses following medical visit issue

While RC Lens and Monaco have recently found an agreement for Neil El Aynaoui’s (23) transfer on a €15M deal, the midfielder’s medical visit revealed a knee injury, resulting in the cancellation of the deal by the Principality club, reports L’Equipe

After weeks of negotiations, Lens and Monaco had finally agreed on a deal in principle for the transfer of El Aynaoui, one of Ligue 1’s revelations last season. Arriving from Nancy on a €600K deal last summer, the Morocco U23 international was set to help the Artois side make massive profits, as Monaco agreed to align on Lens’ valuation of €15M. El Aynaoui was set to replace Youssouf Fofana (25), who is likely to leave the Principality club this summer upon AC Milan and Manchester United’s interest. However, Les Monégasques will be forced to turn their sights on other profiles, as El Aynaoui’s injury suffered in April against Marseille has reportedly not been healed yet.

According to L’Equipe, the midfielder’s injury requires surgery that could leave him away from the pitch for as long as seven months, resulting in the cancellation of the deal by Monaco.
