Brentford have officially confirmed in a statement that Neal Maupay (27) is set to leave the club and return to Everton following a loan move with the club. The Bees completed a move to sign the French striker on loan on the final day of the summer transfer window in 2023.
The loan move was designed to provide depth in the striker position after their star attacker Ivan Toney was handed a ban from football until January. Maupay’s loan at Brentford marked his second spell with the club after he played for them in the Championship before earning a move to Brighton.
The temporary transfer proved to be a successful one for the both the club and the former Saint Étienne player. Maupay scored 6 goals in 30 appearances for the London club. With the end of the season almost here, the 27-year-old is one of 5 players confirmed to be leaving Brentford after their final game against Newcastle United.
