FC Nantes centre-back Bastien Meupiyou (18) is set to join Premier League side Wolverhampton after both clubs had found an agreement, according to reports from L’Equipe and Ouest-France. The outlets understand that Wolves’ outlay for the signing of the France youth international rises to €5 without performance-related add-ons taken into account. The Ligue 1 outfit is also set to secure a sell-on clause. RMC Sport previously reported that Meupiyou had already agreed to join the Molineux side.
Meupiyou was sent off for his professional debut with Nantes last season at home against Marseille and spent the better part of the previous campaign on the sidelines after recovering from a meniscus injury. The France youth international featured during preseason but he was not part of Antoine Kombouaré’s side that drew 1-1 away at Toulouse for Ligue 1’s season-opener. Meupiyou was expected to part ways with his formative club as he was entering his final contract year.
