Germany received a boost on Thursday as Florian Wirtz returned to training after missing the previous two days with an infection.
And, as Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed on Friday evening, the Bayer Leverkusen youngster is fully available for Saturday’s UEFA Nations League clash with Bosnia-Herzegovina in Freiburg.
Whether he will start is up in the air, however, with Nagelsmann also revealing that he plans to rotate his squad a little.
“As things stand today, he will be able to play. We have to make sure that everyone stays fit. We’ll rotate a bit against Bosnia,” Nagelsmann said at his press conference.
He also confirmed that Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel, who are battling for the starting berth in goal while Marc-Andre ter Stegen is sidelined with a long-term injury, will each start one of the upcoming matches.
“Both keepers are in good shape. We’ve decided to give both of them another international game,” he said.
Baumann is set to start against Bosnia-Herzegovina, while Alexander Nübel will get his chance against Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday.
