Leeds United have made an effort to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri (26), but BILD report this evening that the German has decided against a transfer to the Championship club.
Amiri is entering the final year of his contract at Bayer Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso also confirmed that the player is in B04’s squad to face Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga Topspiel on Saturday evening.
Per the report, Leeds United were ready to pay a reported €6m to sign Amiri, who looked set to join French side Marseille until their elimination from the Champions League. As we enter the final week of the transfer window, Amiri is expected to remain at Bayer Leverkusen unless there’s a club that meets the player’s expectations.
Last season, Amiri featured 36 times for Xabi Alonso’s side – predominantly from central midfield – scoring four goals and collecting two assists.
One player that is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen as we enter the latter stages of the transfer window is Sardar Azmoun, who will join AS Roma on loan. The Bundesliga side are also working on a deal to bring Southampton’s Nathan Tella to the club.
