After dancing around the point with some of his more recent public statements, Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski made it as clear and unequivocal as possible when speaking at his national team’s presser on Monday. Echoing statements made by his agent one week ago, the 33-year-old emphasized that another season pent in an FCB tricot was unforeseeable.

“As of today, it’s clear that my story with FC Bayern is over,” Lewandowski said, “I cannot envision any further collaboration after what has happened in recent months.”

“A change constitutes the best solution for both sides,” he continued, “I hope they will not keep me [the attacker’s contract still runs through 2023) simply because they can.”

As many have anticipated, the transfer saga remains likely to drag out for quite some time; possibly all summer.

The latest on a possible transfer to FC Barcelona, according to the main German footballing media sources like Kicker and Sport Bild, is that Bayern wants much more than the €32 million currently being offered by the Catalan club.

Additionally, the German Champions wish to secure adequate replacements before allowing the deal to go through.
