26-year-old Mainz defender Moussa Niakhaté has confirmed that he will represent Senegal in the future.
“It’s the choice of the heart,” Niakhaté told RMC Sport, via Kicker.
Niakhaté made 22 appearances for the French youth teams but has not yet been in demand for the first team.
Senegal manager, Aliou Cissé, wants to call up Niakhaté in Autumn for the games against Mozambique.
With one year remaining on his contract at Mainz, it’s unclear as to where Niakhaté will be playing next season.
