Elye Wahi (21) has struggled to establish himself at Olympique de Marseille since making the move in the summer. He signed from RC Lens for €25m back in the summer but has since been displaced in the starting line-up by Neal Maupay, who was brought in from Everton to be the back-up option. Wahi’s demotion looks to have been confirmed by Roberto De Zerbi, who confirmed Maupay’s “great importance” to Olympique de Marseille.
There are conflicting reports regarding Wahi’s future. Whilst L’Équipe understands that Marseille are looking to retain the France youth international this January, La Provence understands that the club will be open to offers.
The latter publication has now cited a potential interested party – former club Montpellier HSC. La Provence report that La Paillade are looking to bring Wahi, who left the club in the summer of 2023, to the Mosson on a loan deal as they look to stave off relegation to Ligue 2.
