Mohammed Salisu trains with Monaco, despite early departure from Ghana camp

The Ghanaian football federation confirmed earlier this week that Mohammed Salisu (26) had seen his international duty cut short due to a knee injury. It was a worry for AS Monaco.

Salisu has been on international duty with Ghana, and it was confirmed by their football association that the centre-back had suffered a bilateral medial collateral ligament sprain (knee). The injury, the federation confirmed, had been assessed by both the Black Stars medical team and that of Monaco. He was subsequently released and returned to the Principality club.

However, ultimately, the injury does not seem to be so serious, as L’Équipe revealed that the centre-back was in first-team training on Tuesday, ahead of Saturday’s match against Stade Rennais. With Eric Dier suffering a fresh injury and potentially absent, and with Christian Mawissa also recovering from his own injury, Salisu’s availability this weekend would constitute a big boost for Sébastien Pocognoli.
