RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is determined to keep Konrad Laimer at the club beyond the summer despite reported interest from Bayern München among others.
“We want to keep him, of course. He is one of the best players at the No. 6 position in the Bundesliga and has played a fantastic second half of the season,” Mintzlaff told Servus TV.
“He fits perfectly with our club and our DNA, and his abilities make him almost unique in Germany.”
Laimer himself recently cast doubt on his future at RB Leipzig, telling the ‘Kicker meets DAZN’ podcast:
“Every summer, you should ask yourself what the next step for you personally is. I’m a very ambitious guy, who wants to compete for everything at some point,” said the midfielder, who has one year left on his contract.
