Milan striker and club captain Alvaro Morata has spoken about the club’s performance against Real Madrid, as he helped the Rossoneri to a 3-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Milan had scored first through a Malick Thiaw header. Vinicius Jr put his penalty away to make it 1-1 but it didn’t end there at all. Morata himself got on the scoresheet against his former club and Tijjani Reijnders finished things off with the third, capping off a brilliant performance.
Morata spoke to Sky after the game and he stated that the players had to fight like lions during the game and team talk was important.
He said, as relayed by MN: “What I said to the lads before: an important match especially for us and then for the fans and the club. We had to fight like lions: we played a great match, a serious performance. We had moments of clarity and suffering”
He also spoke about Rafael Leao’s impressive performance, which came after he spent three games in a row on the bench.
“We never had any doubts. He too must be aware that he can make football history: he is clearly stronger than all of us.”
The win, which is a memorable one for Milan, helps them push forward in the Champions League table. They are now 18th in the table and have six points on the board after four games.
