Serie A clubs Milan, Torino and Bologna are interested in signing Schalke defender Malick Thiaw, according to Bild.
Milan showed interest in signing the German youth international in January and had offered €6.5m plus bonuses but a deal failed to materialise. However, it could now change at the second attempt.
A fee between €6m and €8m is being discussed for Thiaw, who has two-years remaining on his current deal. S04 don’t want to lose the central-defender after failing to make Ko Itakura’a move permanent but it comes to a point where the deal is too good to turn down for the newly-promoted Bundesliga club.
Thiaw missed just three 2. Bundesliga games last season and was a mainstay in defence as S04 returned to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking.
The 20-year-old has also represented Germany eight times at U21 level and has risen through the ranks at Schalke after joining their youth team from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2015.
