Mikel Oyarzabal is expected to make his return from injury on December 21, report Mundo Deportivo.
The Real Sociedad player suffered an injury on March 17. Medical staff soon found out that he ruptured his cruciate ligament and underwent an operation a week later.
He is expected to play in some of Los Txuri-Urdin’s friendlies during the World Cup international break against Leeds United and Anderlecht.
The 25-year-old will most likely make his competitive return on December 21, when Real Sociedad play Coria in the Copa del Rey.
Oyarzabal was a regular in Luis Enrique’s Spain starting XI and the Asturian coach was hopeful that he could make a return for the World Cup. Luis Enrique’s optimism even led him to include the Basque player in his pre-list. However, Oyarzabal will be forced to watch Spain’s games from TV as he completes the final stages of his recovery.
