Mikel Arteta can attempt double Bayern Munich transfer to strengthen two key areas for Arsenal – Bailey Keogh

Arsenal need to strengthen in the full-back and midfield departments ahead of next season. Bayern Munich’s transfer exodus should see Mikel Arteta attempt a useful double transfer.

According to German news outlet Bild, Bayern are open to the possible sales of Marel Sabitzer, Marc Roca, Bouna Sarr and Omar Richards, among other this summer.

Sabitzer would certainly be an excellent coup for the Gunners as he would improve the midfield. Arteta could also explore the chance to sign Richards as he would provide the needed depth at left-back amid the anticipated departure of Nuno Tavares.

According to German news outlet Sport1, Bayern Munich would at least consider selling Sabitzer this summer if they receive an offer of around £12.4m. This is an absolute steal when you take into consideration the pedigree of the player.

The Gunners must sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window due to shortages and a lack of quality in the position. Sabitzer was linked to the club in the past, and Edu should look once again to complete a deal if the midfielder is available.

According to reports in Germany, the Gunners were keen on the Austria international in the summer transfer window as he entered the final year of his RB Leipzig contract. However, the midfielder decided to join Bayern Munich instead.

He left RB Leipzig having played 229 games for the club and scoring 52 goals and providing 42 assists. His exploits during his time with the Bundesliga side made him a desirable signing.

But he hasn’t had the same fortunes since his move to Bayern last summer, as he has largely been played out of position, and primarily used as a substitute, hence the reason he has only scored one league goal this season. A summer move to Arsenal for the midfielder certainly shouldn’t be out of the question. Last year, speaking in an interview with SportBILD, the 27-year-old hinted that he would be open to sealing a switch to England one day.

“I’m doing very well financially here, too. It’s not my motivation to move there and build a money bin,” Sabitzer said back in April 2020. “I like playing for RB.

“But I have played in England a couple of times, with the national team as well, and the atmosphere inspired me. The way the fans read the game and cheer shows that they understand football.

“A tackle is sometimes cheered, as is a diagonal ball. I like watching the Premier League, and I can imagine that it’s fun to play there.”

Arsenal had already signed a left-back from Benfica in the previous summer transfer window after Nuno Tavares joined the club for a £7m fee. Despite an impressive start to life in north London, Tavares gradually showed his defensive vulnerability and inexperience in the position.

The Gunners will need to strengthen at left-back to have better cover for Tierney who has been prone to injury since making the switch from Celtic in 2019. Richards would be a potential option for Edu, after making the giant step from Reading to Bayern in 2021.

Both signings could prove to be useful for Arteta ahead of next season. It is certainly a double deal that the Spaniard should look to explore.
