Bottom-placed Ligue 2 team Caen have decided to dismiss head coach Bruno Baltazar. Michel Der Zakarian will replace him in the dugout, according to Ouest-France. Caen are in disarray. The Kylian Mbappé-owned Ligue 2 side have conceded a record-setting ninth consecutive Ligue 2 defeat this Monday against Annecy. Caen are bottom in the Ligue 2 standings with a ten-point deficit on Clermont, who occupy the playoff relegation spot. In his seven games in charge, Baltazar has overseen seven defeats. Baltazar, a former Nottingham Forest assistant coach, has reportedly been dismissed this Tuesday.
The outlet understands that Der Zakarian will replace Baltazar in the dugout. The French head coach, who turns 62 this Tuesday, will be tasked to try to steer Caen out of the danger zone, which will be no mean feat. Der Zakarian was a free agent after being dismissed by Montpellier last fall in the aftermath of a 5-0 home loss to Marseille. Ouest-France understands that Der Zakarian was heading to Normandy this Tuesday. The former Brest and Nantes manager is expected to make his debut as Caen head coach this Saturday at home against Pau this Saturday.
