Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer hits roadblock over wage demands

Real Madrid are negotiating with Kylian Mbappe over a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, but negotiations are still far from complete.

According to The Independent, Mbappe and Madrid have not reached an agreement over his wage package. It is proving a stumbling block.

Mbappe’s entourage is reportedly unsatisfied with what they have been offered and will hold out for more despite the player being desperate to move on.

There is widespread belief that the 25-year-old will eventually wear the white of Los Blancos, but nothing set in stone just yet.

Paris Saint-Germain will be grinding away, trying to find a way to scupper the move to Spain. They have put an offer on the table for the France international, desperate to hold on to their talisman.

However, they will not let the Les Bleus captain hold them to ransom. The new contract they are offering is only a slight increase from his current deal.

Liverpool and Arsenal also hold an interest in Mbappe. The Premier League teams want to bring him to England, but they know they will have to smash their wage structure to get him in – a risk neither team is willing to take.

Mbappe has limited options this summer, akin to Lionel Messi’s situation when he left Barcelona.

It is unclear if Real Madrid will step up to meet Mbappe’s demands or if he will have to meet them halfway.

Los Blancos have changed their approach to contracts in recent years, signing young talents and getting them on smaller contracts before they grow into superstars.

The upcoming weeks will be decisive. Will Mbappe’s dream move to Madrid materialise, or will PSG manage to retain their talisman? A dark horse like Liverpool or Arsenal could pull off a surprise.

Perhaps a new club with an even more lucrative offer enters the fray, throwing the competition wide open.
