Following reports this week from German broadcaster Sport1 that German fullback Philipp Max was set to join Eintracht Frankfurt permanently via an automatic purchase clause, German tabloid “Sport Bild” now reports that said clause was actually activated last weekend with the 29-year-old’s sixth appearance for the SGE. Official confirmation from the club is still lacking.

Eintracht’s desire to acquire the three-times-capped German international on a permanent basis has never been a secret. SGE trainer Oliver Glasner awarded the former Augsburg defender a regular place in the starting XI shortly after the completion of his loan deal on January 31st. Max has started the last four league fixtures as well as Frankfurt’s DFB Pokal and UCL matches.

The German tabloid confirms the Sport1 report that Max will cost Frankfurt just under €2 million and will receive a new contract good through 2026. The fullback maintains an estimated market worth of €6 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. At the peak of his Augsburg career, Max was considered worth €20 million in 2018.
