Max Eberl started his new role as sporting director at RB Leipzig on Thursday. This is his first job since leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach back in January due to the role taking an effect on his health.
On his first day in charge, Eberl held a meeting with Marco Rose before visiting the offices and academy in Cottaweg. Additionally, there was also a meeting with the first-team players that are not at the World Cup along with the coaching team and supervisors.
On Friday, Eberl introduced himself to the whole of the RB employees at lunch at the Red Bull Arena. Eberl was also present as Leipzig beat Horsens of Denmark 2-1 in their final friendly of the year.
The former Gladbach sporting director will be thrown straight into the job with the futures of Konrad Laimer and recently injured Christopher Nkunku both in doubt, whilst Leipzig are also looking to extend the contract of Dani Olmo, whose contract expires in 2024. Lukas Klostermann, Kevin Kampl and Yussuf Poulsen also have contracts that expire in 2024.
