Thomas Müller started and impressed in Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
And according to former Germany international Lothar Matthäus, the 34-year-old veteran should start again when the Bavarians travel to Leverkusen for a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.
“For me, he has to play,” Matthäus told Sky Germany.
“With his enthusiasm, which he transmits to the team, and his quality, he is definitely a candidate for the first eleven for me,” he elaborated.
“Leverkusen get into a bit of trouble if you attack them early, they don’t play a lot of long balls and want to combine out wide.
“They have technically good players, but when you put them under pressure, they make mistakes. Bayern can take advantage of that, and Müller can direct that early pressure.”
Bayern are two points behind Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga table going into the match.
