Mathys Tel (17) has been given clearance by UEFA and is allowed to play for Bayern Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Friday night, according to Bild.
When players who are not yet of legal age, UEFA must approve the transfer. As a result, Tel missed Bayern’s DFL Supercup win against RB Leipzig but still travelled with the squad.
Speaking prior to Tel being registered, Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann said: “The commission meets only every two weeks. He’s only been here for a few days and first has to get to know the boys. But I’m happy with what I saw, he’s very good at dribbling and quite brave.”
The French youth international joined Bayern Munich from Ligue 1 side Rennes for €28.5m including bonuses last week. He becomes the Bundesliga’s third most expensive 17-year-old following Jude Bellingham (€25m) and Jadon Sancho (€20.59m), who joined Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and 2017.
