Marseille’s record signing Vitinha attracting widespread interest

It has been a year since Vitinha (23) joined Olympique de Marseille for a club-record €32m fee. With just four goals and one assist since his arrival from Braga, he is yet to fully find his rhythm, however, according to La Provence, he has still retained his value on the market and multiple clubs are interested in signing the Portuguese forward.

Marseille want to invest this January, however, to do so, it is thought that they must first sell, or at least get players off the wage bill, which is being monitored by the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog. It has been reported that players such as Ismaïla Sarr, Vitinha and Azzedine Ounahi, all of whom have only arrived in the last 12 months, could be free to leave in the event of a good offer.

La Provence report that several foreign teams have recently enquired about Vitinha. Marseille aren’t against retaining Vitinha, but the Ligue 1 club would sell should an offer of over €20m arrive. The player himself is, however, not keen on an exit from OM.
