According to an update provided by Foot Mercato, Azzedine Ounahi (24) has decided to join Panathinaikos FC over their rivals Olympiacos FC after Olympique de Marseille had accepted loan offers from both clubs.
The French outlet has further revealed that Panathinaikos will pay €500,000 for Ounahi to join on a season loan after which the Greek club will have the option to purchase the midfielder for €11.5 million. Ounahi is set to travel to Athens early this evening where he will undergo a medical before joining the club.
The midfielder joined Marseille from Angers SCO in January 2023 following a breakout tournament for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup. However, he struggled to live up to his international performances and ultimately underwhelmed across his one-and-a-half seasons in the south of France.
Marseille had transfer listed the Moroccan international this summer after it became clear that he had no future in Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
