La Provence are reporting that Olympique de Marseille aren’t interested in making Nuno Tavares’ loan move from Arsenal (23) permanent.
Tavares, who joined Arsenal from Benfica for €8m in the summer of 2021, was loaned out to Marseille at the beginning of the season. Since arriving at the Vélodrome, the Portuguese wing-back has made 30 appearances, scoring six goals. All of those have come in Ligue 1, and he is currently Les Phocéens’ second top scorer in the French top flight. Only Alexis Sánchez has scored more.
However, according to La Provence, Marseille are not interested in retaining the Arsenal loanee. With just 24 months remaining on Tavares’ contract, Arsenal have ruled out the possibility of a further loan, whilst Marseille have categorically rejected the idea of a permanent transfer.
Unless there is a major change in the club’s stance, Tavares will therefore return to Arsenal this summer, as the player stated in late February.
