Olympique de Marseille will not pursue a deal to sign Ivan Perišić (36), according to a report from L’Équipe. The Croatian had been one of three names on OM’s shortlist to replace Luis Henrique, whose move to Inter Milan was made permanent earlier this month.
As per L’Équipe, Perišić’s financial demands have put off Marseille, who have turned towards other targets. The Croat’s contract at PSV Eindhoven is up at the end of the season, but there are talks over a renewal. There is also interest from Barcelona. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward’s preference is to join the Catalan club, Foot Mercato understands.
As a result, Marseille will turn to two other Eredivisie targets: Noa Lang (25) and Igor Paixao (24). Unlike Perišić, both would command fees. The former, a teammate of Perišić’s at PSV, is available for €20m. The latter, who has four years remaining on his deal at Feyenoord, would be more expensive, given that he still has four years remaining on his deal.
