Real Madrid striker Mariano Díaz has communicated his desire to leave the La Liga champions, as per reports from Marca.
Despite previously insisting on staying and fighting for his place at the club, according to the latest reports, Mariano has taken the initiative to look for a suitable club and offer in order to leave Real Madrid.
Mariano was bought back by Real Madrid from Olympique Lyon in 2018 for a fee of €21 million, making headlines by being the first heir to Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic no. 7 at the Bernabéu. Injury problems and poor form have been constant obstacles for the forward however, who has increasingly fallen down the pecking order during his stint.
Mariano made merely 11 appearances in the 2021/22 season across all competitions, scoring just once.
With the expected exits of fellow fringe forwards Luka Jović and Borja Mayoral, Real Madrid are reportedly also in the hunt for a new back-up to Karim Benzema.
