In an interview given to the club’s official website, Borussia Mönchengladbach director Roland Virkus has indicated that France forward Marcus Thuram would not be extending his contract with the club past this summer.
Former Rennes man Ramy Bensebaïni, who like Thuram joined the Bundesliga side four seasons ago, will also be leaving on a free transfer.
Thuram, formerly of Sochaux and Guingamp, is enjoying his best season so far on the opposite bank of the Rhine, having found the net 13 times in 26 appearances – bringing his total with the team to 44 goals in 130 appearances. His early-season form had seen him called up for the France squad that made the World Cup final, a match in which he came on as a substitute.
Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Thuram – along with his brother Khéphren, at Nice – for a summer transfer, with the forward said to be part of a shortlist of potential signings centred around young French talent in order to refresh the squad.
