Marcus Thuram departure confirmed as Premier League clubs and Barcelona on high alert

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed the departure of Marcus Thuram, who will leave for free at the end of the season.

The French striker’s future has been subject to speculation for a while, with his contract expiring in the summer.

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has revealed that Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini have opted against new deals and will leave the club this summer.

It comes just a day after the Foals announced the exit of Lars Stindl at the end of the season.

While Bensebaini has an agreement in place with fellow Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, Thuram remains one of the most sought-after free agents in Europe.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a productive season, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in all competitions.

Growing into one of the most prolific centre-forwards in Europe, Thuram earned a spot in France’s World Cup squad last year as well as attracted a handful of suitors.

Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have been registered with an interest in the Frenchman.

The Red Devils’ priority is to sign a top-class striker in the summer, with names like Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos and Dusan Vlahovic being appreciated.

Inter Milan are also in contention for Thuram, identifying him as a top target to reinforce their attack because of the uncertain futures of Joaquin Correa and Romelu Lukaku.

The Nerazzurri, however, will face tough competition from La Liga giants Barcelona for his signing.

Thuram is an ideal signing for Barca from a financial point of view as they are targeting more transfers due to their economic crisis.

The Catalan giants have been tracking the French striker for a while, and club directors Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff admire his profile.

Fellow La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid are also in the running for Thuram, as they are in the market for attacking reinforcements, with Joao Felix heavily linked with a permanent transfer to Chelsea in the summer.
